The Party Top Is Back

Party dressed not over-dressed

Remember the days when it was all about a pairing your ‘going out top’ with your favourite boot-leg flares? Well the party top is back (minus the questionable denim) and it’s the perfect thing to pull on this party season.

In case you needed additional convincing that the Going Out Top is back, let me break it down for you.

It’s the perfect way to dress up without actually having to ‘dress up’. Pop on a snazzy top and the rest will fall into place, style it with your most well-worn vintage jeans if you want to – in fact – that’s likely the coolest way to style it.

Wearing: Paco Rabanne top via Selfridges, Levi’s Ribcage jeans and Prada boots

If the Going Out Top was good enough for Kate Moss circa 1990, it’s good enough for us now. The trick is to opt for a fabric that is a whole lot more fun (even a little party, if you will) that you’re usual attire. The Raco Rabanne star chain mail top; definitely. Anything sequin: of course. Slinky velvet: yes please.

‘Tis the season to give right? So, there’s no harm in giving yourself something that’ll see you through Christmas, New Year, those house parties you frequent to survive winter, and then in the light of day come summer. The vibe is Future Fantasy, aka fun party pieces re-imagined in luxe fabrics and hi-vis hues.
