5 Minute Makeup

The lazy girls guide to photo-ready skin

My daily make-up routine has three requirements: it has to be fast, easy and leave me looking fresh faced. The go-to routine and the products I reach for to achieve natural, glowing skin in five minutes max.

It’s All About The Base

I swear by good primer. I’ll never wear makeup without it. I also make sure my primer has SPF30, so I’m never leaving the house without sun protection.

This NARS Radiance Primer Base Eclat is a god send, it brightens and illuminates so you can just wear as it a base for a fresh-faced look, sans foundation.

It Starts With a Good Foundation

Over the years I’ve tried so many foundations, and yet I always come back to the same one. Dior Star is dewy without every feeling oily, it stays all day and I like that I can wear a tiny amount and still get decent coverage.

As it has SPF30+ I actually use this as a foundation when I just want to cover small areas (rather than use concealer specifically).

Good Brows Make All The Difference

The age old mantra that brows frame your face is 100% true – and mine are naturally fair so I tend to always fill them in, even if I’m not wearing any other makeup. If I have no real need to wear makeup, usually I’ll just pat on sunscreen and do my brow.s

It may be hyped but Glossier’s Boy Brow is amazing – adds volume without too much product and the brush is perfect for creating full, bushy brows.

For a more subtle look, Dior Show Brow Styler is really amazing for mimicking the look of fine hairs with it’s thin, natural looking brow pencil.

Bronzed Goddess

I brush on a light dusting of bronzer all over the face to create a subtle glow, as well as help set my foundation. Then I add a little extra along the cheekbone to help contour the face.

I’ve used Givenchy’s Healthy Glow Bronzer for years and I love the fact it manages to make me feel sun-kissed, without ever running the risk of looking like Ross when he goes (and fails) to get a spray tan on Friends. It’s not the cheapest of bronzers, but it tends to last me a veeery long time, so cost per use it’s a borderline steal.

Lush, Natural Lashes

I’m not a huge fan of the admin of taking off mascara, so generally I wear a super light coat that’s easy to remove. NARS Climax Mascara is great for packing a punch if I’m heading out, otherwise, much like my thirteen year old self, I still love Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara.

Hydrate Those Lips

I’m partial to a red lip, but 99% of the time I use nothing more then a lip balm: good ol’ Vaseline or Glossier’s Balm Dot Com.
