Two ways to wear the feminine dress (and still feel cool)

The ankle-grazing, floaty floral dress is having a revival. So how to wear the feminine frock without feeling like ultimate girly-girl?

At first glance the long-sleeved, shoe-skimming printed dress seems far too feminine for everyday wear. And yet, somehow I’ve been reaching for a version of said dress almost as often as my denim.

There’s certainly something to be said for the humble dress – one of the few pieces hanging in your wardrobe that is also an entire outfit, no additional bells or whistles required.

So how to waltz out of the house in a dress that wouldn’t look amiss in The Sound of Music, all the while still feeling cool?

Go Casual

If you over feel overdressed, nine times out of ten a pair of trainers will do the trick. Easy, comfortable, and instantly makes even the girliest of dresses look day-time appropriate.

Layer Up

Layering is always an excellent way to inject your own attitude into any look. To keep the dress looking from like it just walked off a mannequin, layer it up with your favourite pair of jeans and your go-to jacket or sweater.
