How to get away with wearing trainers all week

I love a pair of sexy heels as much as the next girl, but wouldn’t it be a whole lot more convenient (comfortable) if we could get away with wearing trainers 24/7? No taking a pair of flats in our bag in case of blisters, no ordering an Uber because our shoes are unsuitable for a 7-block stroll (we’ve all been there), no ritualistically pulling off our heels off before we’ve even opened the front door.

Weekends, brunch dates and casual Fridays were made for trainers. But how to get away with wearing them all week long?

At work

Not all trainers are created equal, and if you’re planning on wearing them to work, probs best not to go for the ‘well-loved’ pair you wear to spin class. These ruffled trainers by Tory Burch are the perfect mix of contemporary and comfortable. Style with a cool blazer, a slightly oversized shirt and cropped trousers that flash a little ankle. The aim is for the sneakers to look intentional, not like you just came from the gym.

Night out with the girls

It’s not a good look heading out in shoes that you can’t spend the night dancing in. Trainers were made for a night out; what they lack in height they make up for in stamina. Keep the overall look more party than casual by flashing some leg, opting for a bold red lip and finishing off with statement jewellery and a high-impact bag.

On a date

Dressing for a date can be a sartorial minefield, but the beauty of wearing trainers is that you can still pull out your slinkiest slip dress without the fear of feeling over-dressed.
