How to get away with wearing denim on repeat

It’s fair to say that for most of us, denim is the backbone of our wardrobes. The question is, can you have too much of a good thing? The answer is no (obviously) but in the name individuality and creativity it doesn’t hurt to step away from your most beloved pair every now and then. So for five days straight I set about wearing denim – without reaching for the same pair twice.

Day 1: Starting off my week of denim with perhaps the most complicated of candidates, the denim mini. Yes, the denim mini does remind me of high school, but it’s not to be feared. Just pair with over-the-knee boots and a slouchy jumper for a more relaxed vibe (and the easiest way to get your legs out without really showing off much skin).

Day 2: The 90’s are back baby, so reach for that indigo denim. If you’re ever stuck for what to wear in the morning I say go monotone (aka head to toe in one colour). It’s so easy you’ll never look back. Extra points for incorporating super sized sleeves.

Day 3: Proving that minimalism and denim can co-exist with this mostly monochrome look. In fact, when in doubt about how to finish off a look, just tie a denim jacket around the waist for instant nonchalant cool.

Day 4: If denim is the backbone of our wardrobe then skinny black jeans are undoubtedly the base. Like a blank canvas, you can throw pretty much anything on them – particularly your most over-sized, slouchy coats as the weather starts to drop. Wear with trainers whenever possible.

Day 5: They call them boyfriend jeans for a reason, so go all out and pair with masculine loafers, a long sleeve slub tee and a black bomber. When it comes to emulating those boyish vibes go simple or go home.
