Cut Off

Giving denim shorts a grown up spin

Denim shorts have long been associated with festivals, sandy days at the beach, and well let’s face it, teenage girls. But getting your legs out in denim cut-offs need not bring forth associations any of the above. The trick is to balance out the generous amount of skin on show with slouchy, boyish layers.

Yeah, denim shorts may inherently be casual (I’m not suggesting you start wearing them to meetings), but there’s no reason you can’t go all business on top with a slick black blazer. Or opt for everyone’s favourite tried-and-true method of borrowing from the boys. Big shirts (loosely unbuttoned and pushed up sleeves, obvs), a classic brown belt, slouchy t-shirts and slick loafers will never let you down.
