French girls do it better. And while I may not be in Paris any more that doesn’t mean I’ve abandoned the straight-forward rules of French dressing 101. It’s a well-thumbed recipe, and for good reason; because what’s cooler than casual-cool?
Step one; the predictable, yet still timeless Breton stripe. The fact that French stripes are a total cliche without ever becoming passe is a testament to it’s staying power. Paired with blue jeans which flatter the butt; tick. Discover your inner Parisenne with a little helping hand from vintage Levi’s, preferably high-waisted, backside-hugging and cropped at the ankle. Fear not for your lack of Chanel, a more understated one-off bag sourced from a local market is far more imitable (oh this old thing, I got it a market in Spain). And of course slick flats. Because heels are for suckers when cobbled streets are involved.
